How to Care for Hand-Dyed Items

Congratulations on your purchase of a one of a kind piece of wearable art! Your item is a creation from my hands: either up-cycled vintage linen, organic fair-trade cotton, recycled cotton or a second-hand natural fiber treasure. If you purchased a jumper, hoodie cape, scarf or wrap skirt, your item was sewn in Nepal by Tashi, and designed and dyed by myself.

All dyed products are twice washed and safe for sensitive baby skin or mouth wiping. Your item will not bleed in the wash, and with proper care the color will last a very long time.

Wash and dry item as specified on original clothing tag if available. Use a mild detergent. Do not use bleach, and do not dry in direct sunlight.

Cotton likes to be washed on a gentle cycle in cold water, and air dried in the shade. Toss into the dryer for a final low heat tumble to soften. Linen prefers a gentle lukewarm or cool wash, followed by a low heat tumble dry (or air dried in shade). Iron or hand flatten while slightly damp or enjoy the natural fibre wrinkles.

If the cloth feels stiff, which can sometimes happen during the dyeing process, add 1/4 cup of vinegar to your wash load as a natural clothing softener.

I am so honored to have a piece of my artwork in your home. Please e-mail me with any questions, or to share a picture of your hand-dyed treasure in use!
